Beach Wheelchair rental

Beach wheelchairs are now available for you to pre-book from Silverburn Park so that all members of your party get to enjoy the park and beach fully. They are fitted with polyurethane ‘balloon’ wheels which make the park’s rough terrain paths and the sandy beach accessible. The chairs can also be pushed into the water.

We have 4 chairs available. 3 suitable for adults and 1 for children – see below for specifications.

Beach Wheelchairs are currently available in these slots:

Tuesday morning 9.30am-12.30pm
Tuesday afternoon 1.00pm-4.00pm
Wednesday morning 9.30am-12.30pm

Our beach wheelchairs are free to book with a £20 refundable deposit. We invite you to make a suggested donation of £15 when you collect your beach wheelchair.
Meet our staff and volunteers at the beach wheelchair hut at the east-end of the Silverburn car park to start your visit.

Please note that booking is for beach wheelchair hire only. You’ll need to bring a companion to help you into the chair and to push.

The Sandcruiser
Sandcruiser® is designed with unique WheelEEZ™ polyurethane balloon wheels, allowing the user water access, PLUS a multitude of other terrains (beach, gravel, grass, rural areas, trails, and tracks etc.). Enjoy the beach and park!

The Debug all terrain

Designed to safely provide wheelchair users with transportation across areas where a conventional wheelchair becomes unmanageable. This includes areas such as beaches, snow covered side-walks, forest trails, etc. Features a fixed back and a removable elevating leg rest.

The Sandpiper

The Sandpiper® is an ‘All-Terrain Chair’ AND a ‘Beach Wheel Chair’. A ‘Beach Wheel Chair’ is primarily designed for beach/ water use, whereas an ‘All Terrain Chair’ Sandpiper® is designed with unique WheelEEZ™ polyurethane balloon wheels, allowing the user water access, PLUS a multitude of other terrains (beach, gravel, grass, rural areas, trails, and tracks etc.). The Sandpiper® All Terrain Chair/ Beach Wheel Chair has all the features of the Sandcruiser® but smaller to perfectly fit a young child. It is a smaller version of the Sandcruiser®, with smaller balloon wheels and slightly smaller frame size (see below) and it is bright new yellow!
